The artist has donated the full amount of his £25,000 honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which works to preserve the UK's small music venues.

He was awarded the award on October 16 as his latest record his work was declared the top album of the past year.

The musician has opted to donate the funds to the trust, in recognition of the essential function local spots fulfilled in his initial steps.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the area, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, the group Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports independent venues.

He also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his live tour to help numerous local spots across the UK.

The money helped spaces that were facing imminent closure due to challenges caused by floods, blazes and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and sound issues.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in modernizing amenities and gear that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The idea that revenue from shows in large arenas supports the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," Fender has said.

The musician is not the first artist to give his honor prize money to good deeds.

When the band received the award in the year 1996 for their release Different Class, lead singer the singer announced that the group would donate their winnings to the charity the charity.

During 2002, artist she split her bounty across several good causes, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"I also contributed a grand to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they needed better apparatus," Ms Dynamite shared with a publication.

Two years ago, the band donated their prize money to the local youth club that developed their group, alongside other local music groups.

And 1994 winners the group donated their award to a charity for MS after a friend was identified with the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," said vocalist the singer. "The prize was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted another person's life."

In the past week, the trust shared it had rescued a couple of grassroots venues in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in that location were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is backed by the arts council and music fans who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
